Lance McCullers resumes throwing for Astros

Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers (elbow) resumed a throwing program on Friday.

What It Means:

He played catch Friday and said he felt good afterwards. It will be a while before he can throw more aggressively on flat ground, or even off a mound, so his return is still likely far away. It also might not come until next season. However, this is still a good sign for his recovery. McCullers last pitched on August 2.

McCullers has an ERA of 3.22 and his xFIP this season is 3.04. He does own a 1.54 WHIP, but his strikeout rate has been phenomenal at 30.1 percent, to go along with a 1.64 nERD on the season.
