Giants to sign relief pitcher Joe Nathan
The San Francisco Giants are signing recently-designated Chicago Cubs' relief pitcher Joe Nathan to a minor league contract, per Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
The 41-year-old Nathan is coming off of the second Tommy John surgery of his career, and while that obviously doesn't bode well for him, the Giants will see if he has anything left with a low-risk deal.
Nathan has only played 11 2/3 innings of combined minor league and major league action this year, and posted a 6.75 ERA in his four Triple-A appearances, while he has a 3.66 SIERA in three major league appearances on the season.
