Zack Greinke gives up nine runs, lasts just 1 2/3 as Arizona is annihilated
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Greinke had a brutal night on Sunday, allowing 9 runs on 10 hits over only 1 2/3 innings as the Diamondbacks went on to fall 16-2 to the Boston Red Sox.
Those nine earned runs are the most Greinke has given up this season, while it was also the second-most he has given up in a game in his career.
This season has been a rough one for Greinke, as his 4.31 ERA is his worst since 2005, while his 3.83 SIERA is at its highest since 2007. He's also sporting a 20.53 percent strikeout rate (below both his career-average and the league average) through 117 innings pitched on the year.
