Ken Giles placed on paternity leave list by Astros
The Houston Astros placed reliever Ken Giles on the paternity leave list.
Giles will miss the entire series against the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend. Will Harris -- and his 2.56 ERA this season -- will likely take over as the closer for the Astros while Giles is away.
Giles owns an excellent 2.52 xFIP in 46 1/3 innings pitched this season, to go with an outstanding 34.98 strikeout percentage (league average is 21.00 percent). We project him to record a 3.26 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP over the remaining course of the season.
