Andrew Albers called up to Minnesota

The Minnesota Twins purchased the contract of pitcher Andrew Albers from Triple-A Rochester.

What It Means:

He will take Buddy Boshers' spot in the rotation after he was added to the disabled list with elbow inflammation. Albers has been solid in Rochester this season, sporting a 9-5 record with a 3.51 ERA in 19 starts (112 2/3 innings). The 30 year-old southpaw owns a 4.02 ERA in 11 appearances (10 starts) in the big leagues for his career.

Albers hasn't struck out many hitters this season (15.03 strikeout percentage) and has allowed a .293 average against, to go with a 1.41 WHIP. He last appeared in the majors in 2015, throwing just 2 2/3 innings with the Toronto Blue Jays.
