Jim Johnson owns the ninth for Braves, closes out Pirates in Atlanta

Atlanta Braves closer Jim Johnson tossed a solid ninth inning Thursday against the Pittsburgh Pirates to secure a 5-2 victory.

What It Means:

Johnson did not allow a baserunner to complete his seventh save of the season. The veteran took over the Braves' closing duties for the injured Arodys Vizcaino and he has not allowed a run in his last six outings. While the Braves' don't win too many games, Johnson should still be a good value for saves in year-long fantasy leagues.

Johnson owns a 3.79 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 40 1/3 innings pitched this season. He has a 21.89 strikeout rate and our models project him to continue to improve down the stretch, with a 3.33 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 21 2/3 innings remaining.
