Max Scherzer helps lead Nationals to victory over Giants
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer held the San Francisco Giants to one run in seven innings as Washington won 4-1 on Friday.
Scherzer struck out six batters and walked two on the day. He gave up five hits over seven innings and for the time being he took over the major league lead in strikeouts at 187. His next start will be in Arizona on Tuesday.
Scherzer owns a 2.85 ERA and the second best nERD in the league at 2.97. He has a 32.19 strikeout rate over 148 2/3 innings and our models project him to post a 3.18 ERA and 25.10 strikeout rate over 79 1/3 innings left this season.
