Salvador Perez scratched by Royals with head cold
Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (illness) was scratched from the lineup Thursday against the Texas Rangers.
A head cold will keep him out of action tonight and he can be considered day-to-day. Drew Butera will fill in behind the plate for Kansas City, batting eighth versus Rangers southpaw Cole Hamels.
Perez owns a .271/.307/.479 slash and .332 wOBA in 352 plate appearances this season. His 23.86 strikeout percentage is a big leap from his 14.44 percent career average. His 0.61 nERD ranks 118th in the majors.
