Jason Heyward out of Cubs' lineup on Thursday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward is out of the starting lineup Thursday night against the Chicago White Sox.
Heyward has played elite-level defense, per usual, this season posting the second-best UZR/150 (26.4) among right fielders, but he's slashing just .229/.317/.315 in 395 plate appearances, and he'll sit Thursday versus southpaw Chris Sale. Ben Zobrist will shift to right field and bat fourth, while Javier Baez will take over at second base.
Heyward's .286 wOBA ranks eighth-worst among qualified hitters this season and his .086 ISO ranks fourth-worst. Our models project him to hit .258/.338/.369 with three homers, eight steals and a .312 wOBA over the rest of the year.
