Pirates' Chris Stewart (knee) could begin rehab assignment next week
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Chris Stewart (knee) could begin a rehab assignment next week.
According to Pirates trainer Todd Tomczyk, Stewart's rehab assignment would likely boot up in the middle or later portion of the week after the calendar flips to August. The catcher ran the bases on Wednesday and is expected to ramp up baseball activities over the weekend. Stewart has been plagued by knee and ankle woes during the summer months, but there is no long-term structural damage.
Stewart is slashing .198/.305/.275 across 105 appearances at the plate this season. He's posted a .260 wOBA with one long ball and seven RBI's.
