Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke (oblique) nearing rehab outing
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Greinke (oblique) is expected to make an appearance in an Arizona League game on Friday.
Greinke has been sidelined with a left oblique strain since June 29, but could return to the mound for Arizona after just one appearance in the minors, depending on how he's feeling Wednesday morning. He threw a 40-pitch simulated appearance on Tuesday.
Greinke owns a 3.62 ERA this season (compared to a 3.36 career-average), while his 3.76 xFIP is his highest mark since the 2007 season. He has earned a 2.16 nERD across 109 1/3 innings of work this season, ranking 69th in the majors.
