Melvin Upton

Melvin Upton out of Padres' lineup again on Monday

San Diego Padres outfielder Melvin Upton is out of the starting lineup for a second straight day Monday as the Padres face the Toronto Blue Jays.

What It Means:

Upton missed Sunday's game as well but the team insists that it is just a couple of scheduled days off and not due to the team putting him on the trade market. However, it would not be surprising to see Upton moved before the deadline. Alex Dickerson will start in left field again Monday and hit fifth against Aaron Sanchez.

Upton is having a nice bounce-back year for the Padres slashing .256/.304/.439 with a .326 wOBA over 374 plate appearances. He has 16 homers, 45 RBI's, 46 runs scored and 20 steals on the year and our models project him to post a .316 wOBA, adding 8 homers, 26 RBI's and 9 steals over the remainder of the season.
