Andrew Miller

Yankees' sense is they will keep Andrew Miller

The New York "Yankees' sense right now" is that reliever Andrew Miller will not be traded ahead of the August 1 deadline, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

What It Means:

However, this could change over the next few days, pending what type of offers come in. New York received a terrific haul for the services of impending free agent reliever Aroldis Chapman on Monday, landing four players from the Chicago Cubs. Miller, who is under contract through the 2018 season, owns a sparkling 1.45 ERA and a whopping 45.12 strikeout percentage (league average is 21.00 percent) in 43 1/3 innings this season for the Yankees.

Miller's 1.31 xFIP is actually lower than his ERA, and his 1.18 SIERA is on pace to be a career best. We project him to record a 2.56 ERA and a 29.10 strikeout percentage over the remaining course of the season.
