Hector Santiago

Angels reportedly listening to offers on Hector Santiago

The Los Angeles Angels are listening to offers on starting pitcher Hector Santiago, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

What It Means:

Crasnick also notes that multiple teams have already inquired, per his sources. Santiago owns a 4.32 ERA -- which is a career-worst -- in 110 1/3 innings (20 starts) this season, but the 28 year-old southpaw posted a solid 3.55 ERA across 532 2/3 innings from 2011 through 2015. Santiago will be arbitration eligible for the third -- and last -- time in 2017.

Despite the solid ERA from 2011-2015, Santiago only posted an xFIP of below 4.40 once during that time period (and it was in 5 1/3 innings pitched), and his 5.04 xFIP this season is also a career-worst. Our models project him to record a 4.03 ERA and an 18.90 strikeout percentage (league average is 21.00) over the rest of the season.
