Reds' Dan Straily strikes out eight in win over Diamondbacks

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Dan Straily picked up eight strikeouts over six innings in a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.

What It Means:

Strailey gave up two earned runs on five hits on Friday, as he walked three but struck out eight D-backs in his time on the hill. His two runs allowed both came in the first inning after giving up a leadoff homer to Jean Segura and a sacrifice fly to Wellington Castillo. However, he settled down nicely after that, striking out six of the next eight batters and holding Arizona scoreless.

Straily now has a 4.01 ERA and a 19.45 percent strikeout rate over 114 1/3 innings this season. Our models project him to post a 3.91 ERA and 17.80 strikeout rate over 78 1/3 innings remaining this season.
