Jon Lester impresses for Cubs in no-decision

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester put together a strong outing on Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds, only allowing one run in 7 2/3 innings of action. He ultimately scored a no-decision as the Cubs went on to win 7-2 in extra-innings.

What It Means:

He struck out four on the night, his lowest number in over a month, but he was still very impressive. He permitted only one walk and three hits, marking his second-fewest hits given up in a game this season.

While Lester is on pace for a career-best 2.03 ERA and ranks 15th with a 2.71 nERD, his 3.49 SIERA is his worst clip since 2013. We project him for a 3.04 ERA over the remainder of the season.
