Mets sign Jose Reyes to minor league deal
The New York Mets signed shortstop Jose Reyes to a minor league contract on Saturday.
Reyes officially became a free agent at 1 PM Eastern time on Saturday, and the Mets didn't wait long before signing him to eventually return to New York. He is expected to report to Class-A Brooklyn where he will play at a variety of positions before returning to the big team as a utility player.
Reyes posted a .300 wOBA and .274/.310/.378 slash over 519 plate appearances last year. He slashed .303/.425/.485 with a .402 wOBA across 33 minor league at bats for Triple-A Albuquerque this season.
