Reds' Joey Votto slugs 200th career homer

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto smashed career home run number-200 in Monday's slugfest victory over the Colorado Rockies.

What It Means:

Votto took Jason Motte deep in the seventh inning with a shot to right field. He also nearly had a grand slam in his previous at-bat, as a drive in the fourth inning landed on the warning track and then bounced over the fence for a two-RBI, ground-rule double.

Votto's production has been way down this season, as he's sporting a .213/.332/.391 batting line in 208 plate appearances. However, he's hit safely in five out of his last six contests and has a couple dingers over that stretch.
