Nate Karns moves to 5-1 in Mariners' win over San Diego
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Nate Karns struck out six while allowing two runs over 6 2/3 innings in Monday's 9-3 win over the San Diego Padres.
Karns has pitched well overall this season but has had trouble going deep into games, as he's failed to go six frames in half of his starts. That wasn't the case here, though, as he also encouragingly only walked one batter.
The 28-year-old finishes his first two months with a 3.43 ERA and a 5-1 record in 10 starts on the year. He's fanning 8.90 hitters over nine frames across 57 2/3 total innings.
