Jorge Soler records two hits, long ball in victory for Cubs
Chicago Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI's as the Cubs topped the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
Soler got the Cubs on the board first with an RBI single in the first inning before slugging a long solo homer in the fourth. According to Statcast, the blast checked in at 461 feet, which is the longest home run by a Cubs player this season. After getting off to a miserable start, the 24-year-old is hitting .346 (9-for-26) with three home runs and six RBI over his last nine games. The talent is clearly there.
For the season, Soler now has a .214/.308/.384 slash in 130 plate appearances with 12 RBI's and five home runs.
