Shelby Miller lands on Diamondbacks' disabled list
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Shelby Miller was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 25, with a right index finger injury.
Miller hurt the finger last month when he dragged it across the mound on his follow-through after delivering a pitch, and the Diamondbacks are saying the finger is still an issue. It's unclear at this point how long he'll be sidelined, but the club will likely take its time with Miller given how much he's struggled. Archie Bradley is expected to replace him in the rotation.
Miller has a hideous 7.09 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 13.95 strikeout percentage through his first 45 2/3 innings with Arizona. His record stands at 1-6 in 10 outings this season. However, our models project the 25-year-old to record a 4.37 ERA and 17.20 strikeout percentage across 127 2/3 innings for the remainder of the season.
