Dodgers suspend Erisbel Arruebarrena for the season

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Erisbel Arruebarrena has been suspended for the rest of the season "for repeated failure to comply with the terms of his contract," director of player development Gabe Kapler announced Wednesday.

What It Means:

This is the same thing the Dodgers tried to do last May, but a grievance was filed and the suspension was reduced to 30 days. It might be best if these two parties simply go their separate ways, although the Dodgers still owe Arruebarrena around $17.5 million. The 26-year-old infielder was signed out of Cuba in 2013 and has been a major disappointment both off and on the field.

He was slashing .182/.224/.400 with four home runs and 21 strikeouts in 17 games this season at Double-A Tulsa.
