Marlins place Neil Walker on IL finger sprain
The Miami Marlins placed infielder Neil Walker on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to August 4, with a right index finger sprain.
Walker suffered the injury on Saturday in a collision at first base. The Marlins may opt to give the 33-year-old as much time as he needs to recover while they assess younger talent over the final couple months of the season. They recalled 23-year-old top prospect Isan Diaz from Triple-A New Orleans in a corresponding roster move.
Walker is hitting .262/.343/.384 with 5 dingers and 23 RBI in 268 plate appearances (81 games) this season.
