Cubs demote Robel Garcia to Triple-A Iowa
The Chicago Cubs optioned infielder/outfielder Robel Garcia to Triple-A Iowa.
Garcia is being sent down to make room for the arrival of Nick Castellanos, who was acquired in a deadline deal with the Detroit Tigers. The 26-year-old managed 8 extra-base hits (4 homers, 3 triples, 2 doubles) in his first 19 major league games, but he's hit just .188 since the break.
Garcia bat .220/.254/.525 over 63 plate appearances for the Cubs.
