Javier Baez (heel) could return for Cubs Wednesday
Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon is hopeful shortstop Javier Baez (heel) will return to the starting lineup on Wednesday versus the Philadelphia Phillies.
Baez appeared to be available off the bench Monday after making an early exit from Sunday's game with a heel contusion. It sounds like the Cubs are erring on the side of caution with their prized shortstop.
Baez is batting .319/.359/.595 with 11 homers, 16 doubles, 31 RBI, 34 runs scored, and 2 steals across 198 plate appearances this season.
