Greg Bird lands on Yankees' injured list with plantar fascia tear
The New York Yankees placed first baseman Greg Bird on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 14, with a left plantar fascia tear.
Luke Voit should continue to see the majority of starts at first base while Bird is sidelined. It's not clear how long he will be out, but the 26-year-old has gotten off to a rough start in 2019.
Bird is 6-for-35 (.171) with a home run and 6 runs scored through 41 plate appearances. He has 16 strikeouts and 6 walks drawn.
