Fernando Tatis Jr. to start the season with Padres' big-league club
San Diego Padres infielder Fernando Tatis Jr. will begin the season in Major League Baseball, earning a spot on the 25-man roster.
Like many top prospects in baseball, there was a large question as to whether Tatis Jr. would start the year in the majors or minors. But throwing an extra year of control to the wind, the Padres decided to field their best roster and begin the season with the best possible team on the field.
Before this news, our models projected Tatis Jr. for a .240 batting average with 11 home runs, 29 RBI, 40 runs, 10 stolen bases and a .724 OPS in 338 plate appearances.
