Yankees reportedly sign Gio Gonzalez to a minor league contract
The New York Yankees are close to a minor league deal with free agent pitcher Gio Gonzalez.
The deal is worth approximately $3M if Gonzalez makes the big league roster. If he is not with the team by April 30, Gonzalez can ask for his release. The move was made as the Yankees struggle with starting pitching depth following the shoulder injury to Luis Severino.
Gonzalez posted a 4.21 ERA, 1.4 WHIP, and 148 strikeouts in 171 innings with the Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers in 2018.
