Carlos Martinez (shoulder) looking less likely for Cardinals' Opening Day
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez (shoulder) is still at least 5-7 days away from throwing and his odds of being ready for Opening Day are "shrinking," reports Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Martinez has been shut down since receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection late last month. He already wasn't expected to start on Opening Day and it now looks like the 27-year-old right-hander may not be available as a reliever either.
numberFire's models currently expect Martinez to record a 3.70 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 181 strikeouts and 75 walks across 180 innings this season.
