Cubs announce Jon Lester as 2019 opening day starter on Monday
Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester will start against the Texas Rangers on March 28th.
Lester will make his eighth career opening day start and his fourth in a Cubs' uniform. In 32 starts last season, the veteran starter rebounded from a rough 2017 with a 3.32 ERA in 181.7 innings pitched.
For the 2019 upcoming season, our models project Lester to produce a 3.95 ERA and 164 strikeouts in 187.0 innings pitched.
