Jed Lowrie fielding grounders, prepping for return
Jed Lowrie was fielding ground balls during Astros batting practice on Monday. He hasn't played since April due to a torn ligament in his right thumb.
Lowrie is coming off a bad 2014 campaign in which he had a wOBA of .300, but has been a valuable asset in years past, as well as his limited appearance this season. In a brief 74 plate appearances, Lowrie hit .300 with a .398 wOBA and four home runs. He's reportedly a few weeks out, so a post-All Star Break return seems likely. The Astros have a crowded infield with the arrival of Carlos Correa, so it remains to be seen what Lowrie's role will be once he returns.
