Seattle's Robinson Cano long-rumoured trade to Mets finally official
The Seattle Mariners have traded second baseman Robinson Cano along with pitcher Edwin Diaz to the New York Mets for outfielder Jay Bruce, pitchers Anthony Swarzak and Gerson Bautista plus a pair of minor leaguers.
The Mariners take another step in their roster overhaul as they rid themselves of the hefty $120M still owed to Cano. He is under contract for five more seasons, and the Mets hope he can provide some punch in the lineup at least for a couple more seasons.
Cano batted .303 with 10 homers and 50 RBI in 348 plate appearances in 2018.
