FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Saturday 8/24/19

On a slate where we should see plenty of offense, the Twins are one of the night's more appealing stacks as they take on Edwin Jackson. Who else should you roster on Saturday night?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy-looking team to put up some big point totals.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today. We'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitcher

Mike Clevinger ($11,200 on FanDuel): It's a wonky slate tonight, and the top tier doesn't look so hot at pitcher. Clevinger stands out -- in stats and salary (he's $1,500 more than anyone else) -- and is the clear top play on this slate, per our models, which have him 6.3 FanDuel points clear of the field. He hosts the Kansas City Royals, a team with the fourth-worst wOBA against righties (.301). Clevinger has been superb in 2019, holding a 3.15 SIERA, 36.5% strikeout rate and 15.1% swinging-strike rate. In GPPs, you can opt to fade Clevinger to dodge ownership, but that could backfire if he goes off -- something he's done a lot lately as he's put up at least 49 FanDuel points in five of his past seven starts, with one of the exceptions being a still-solid outing of 43 (the other was 20.1 versus the Boston Red Sox). There's not many -- maybe not any -- arms on this slate who can touch Clevinger's upside if he's on.
