FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Monday 4/22/19

We get another round of Coors Field goodness tonight, but Carlos Correa and the Astros, playing in Houston, could do some damage, too. How should you approach this slate?

Monday checks in with a 10-game main slate, combining a healthy dose of fun stacking spots with some nice pitching values. Hitting-wise, the Rockies and Nationals are naturally a highlight at Coors Field, and the Astros and White Sox could also be in line to rack up the runs. We have rain expected in Boston, so keep an eye on the forecast this afternoon, too.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

Chris Sale ($8,400 on FanDuel): Normally, we would begin with a high-priced hurler, but pitching salaries are fairly low tonight, and the discount we're getting on Chris Sale deserves your utmost attention. There's no question Sale has been one of the biggest early disappointments of 2019, failing to exceed even 22 FanDuel points in any start this season. But he averaged 96 mph on his fastball in his last start, a dramatic improvement from his first three outings and a sign that he could be on the verge of becoming the dominant Chris Sale of old. Oddsmakers seem to think so, too, with the Tigers only drawing a 3.37 implied total at Fenway Park, and Detroit hasn't exactly been killing it on offense so far, posting a 70 wRC+ and 25.6% strikeout rate to this point. When he's right, Sale is arguably the best pitcher in the league, as he produced a ridiculous 2.27 SIERA, 38.4% strikeout rate, and 5.5% walk rate over 27 starts in 2018. His opponent, Matt Boyd ($9,400) also deserves consideration in tournaments after flashing an eye-popping 36.0% strikeout rate and 16.1% swinging-strike rate through four starts. Note that this game does have rain in the forecast, so be sure to stay up to date on the latest before committing.
