FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Monday 4/1/19

With pitching salaries low across the board, you shouldn't have any problem paying up for Mike Trout in a juicy matchup tonight.

As we meander our way to the back end of teams' rotations on Monday's nine-game main slate, it isn't surprising to find pitcher salaries a bit lower than usual, with not a single arm reaching the $10,000 mark. But we still have some intriguing names on the board, and the lower pricing will make stacking our favorite bats that much easier tonight. The Astros and Blue Jays check in with the slate's highest implied totals.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

Steven Matz ($8,200 on FanDuel): David Price ($9,300) and Kyle Hendricks ($9,000) are the only two hurlers priced in the $9,000s, but you can arguably skip right past them to Steven Matz, who draws a favorable matchup on the road against the Marlins. Matz's 2018 marks don't really pop -- a 4.10 SIERA, 23.2% strikeout rate, and 8.9% walk rate won't have you rushing to click that add button -- but Miami figures to be a matchup we exploit often this season, as their active roster only mustered a 74 wRC+ versus southpaws in 2018. Additionally, Matz posted an encouraging 27.1% strikeout rate in the second half that appeared to coincide with increased slider usage, so he may provide more upside than his overall numbers would indicate. In pitcher-friendly Marlins Park, Miami is showing only a 3.56 implied total, and on a night lacking aces, Matz looks like a solid, "safe" choice.
