MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 9/20/13

Mat Latos has been phenomenal against the Pirates over his career. Can it continue tonight in the Steel City?

We know that people play all sorts of fantasy platforms, not just from from our friends at StarStreet but on other platforms such as FanDuel, Draft Kings, and Fantasy Feud as well. So once again, we have four optimized rosters, all for you, the numberFire reader. One is for free here; the others can be found in our Premium section.

As always, the full tables for today's action are available at our Daily Fantasy Projections page. Make sure to check it out to see where the best values are for your team.

Our baseball projections are updated throughout the day, so make sure to come back to double-check your optimized rosters for any last-minute lineup changes. Since most action happens later in the day, we will be ignoring the early games (if there are any) and focusing solely on the late contests. That way, you can use and tinker with our optimized rosters throughout the day.

The Top Three Pitchers

Max Scherzer – The Tigers pitcher will go for his 20th win tonight against the White Sox. Though he's 0-2 in his last three starts, his last outing produced 12 strikouts in 7 innings. We like him tonight against Chicago, a team that ranks in the bottom half of the league in most offensive categories.

Robbie Erlin – Robbie Erlin's pitched much better over the second half of the season, supporting a 2.60 ERA in his three starts. He's one of the cheapest pitchers you'll find tonight in daily leagues, and if he can continue his pace, he'll surely return his value.

Mat Latos – The Pirates have struggled hitting the ball of late, putting up more than three runs just once (last night) over their last six games. Latos enters PNC Park with a 5-1 record against the Buccos, and comparable numbers on the road compared to home. He'll face off against Franky Liriano in what should be a pitchers duel.

Top High-Priced Hitters

David Ortiz – Big Papi has seven multi-hit games in September, and will be facing a Blue Jays pitching staff that ranks sixth to worst in team ERA. Expect Ortiz to have a nice night at the plate tonight.

Robinson Cano – Cano's batting .330 with eight doubles this month, and has a season-long batting average at home of .324. He's been on fire since the All Star break, and is on pace to have his best RBI month of the season. Have the hot bat in your lineup.

Cost-Effective, Mid-Range Hitter

A.J. Pollock – Though he's batting just over .260 on the season, Pollock has 10 hits over his last 8 games. He's batting .326 in September, which is much more significant than any month this season. Given his price, he's a great play tonight against at Coors.
