4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/23/17

Travis Shaw is having a fine season, but is his price getting too high on FanDuel? Who should you avoid in DFS on Tuesday's slate?

Clayton Kershaw ($12,600) is back in our DFS lives tonight, and although his 3.08 SIERA and 26.1% are "disappointing" by his standards, he's still the standard by which we compare all others.

Excluding two games at Coors Field -- where even Kershaw is susceptible to the high altitude -- he's only had one game fall below 46 FanDuel points in 2017. Yes, the price is high as always, but you won't find a more consistent cash play in MLB DFS.

Indeed, the respect for Kershaw goes so deep that FanDuel has priced the opposing St. Louis Cardinals under $2,000 apiece. You probably still don't want to take the bait, but if you need the salary relief this could be an interesting way to punt in tournaments.

Beyond Kershaw, we have high-upside alternatives in Carlos Carrasco ($10,300) and Lance McCullers ($9,400), who both have slightly higher strikeout rates than Kershaw.

Matt Shoemaker ($8,800) is also worth a tournament look, with 16 punchouts across his last two starts, and a date against the whiffing Tampa Bay Rays. Danny Duffy ($8,600) is risky against the New York Yankees, but he fanned 10 of them his last time out.

Every team is in action tonight, so there are a dizzying number of spots to attack. Highlights include the Arizona Diamondbacks (vs. Dylan Covey), Boston Red Sox (vs. Andrew Cashner), and Houston Astros (vs. Jordan Zimmermann).

Alright, folks, let's get to it and check out four guys to exclude from your lineups tonight.
